Fort Lauderdale Art Institute Alumni - Lime Design Product Development Team

Many of our team members are Fort Lauderdale Art Institute Alumni including the owner and CEO, Rodrigo Lima. Our way of giving back to the design community is by mentoring passionate and driven up-and-coming designers.

Lime Design is pleased to announce that two more talented interns have joined our product development team for the summer! Carolina Esslinger is an Industrial Design major from the Rhode Island School of Design and Lior Barhai is currently working on a Mechanical Engineer degree with a minor in Material Behavior from Carnegie Mellon University. They will be working closely with our team at the South Florida Lime Design office located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale.

When asked about the driving force behind the internship program, Rodrigo Lima stated, “It is important for us to cultivate a workspace where our team can learn and grow professionally and we know that the best way to learn is through hands-on experience. Our way of giving back to the design community is by mentoring passionate and driven up-and-coming designers and engineers. We’ve hosted interns from all the major industrial design and engineering schools and many of our team members are Fort Lauderdale Art Institute Alumni that started out with an internship. When we met with Carolina and Lior, we knew that they possessed the diverse qualities that we were looking for.”

Product Development Team at Lime Design - Internship Program

Lior Barhai has been studying mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University for the past two years with a strong interest in the automotive industry. His unwavering passion for the automotive industry began in his father’s garage when he was just a child. “I have learned a lot over this past year and I’m eager to use it in the real world. I’m excited to be able to apply the Mechanical Engineering knowledge that I’ve learned at CMU,” says Lior.

We decided to bring on Lior to develop solutions to mechanical problems that may arise with some of our new inventions and product development projects. When asked what he hopes to gain from his experience as a Lime Design intern, Lior says, “There are many employees here who know the ins and outs of SolidWorks, giving me the opportunity to learn more every day. I also plan to learn more about the manufacturing process from injection molding to stamp steel and want to understand how different materials act under different environments to know which material is best for a particular purpose.”

Lime Design Product Development Team - Internship Program

Carolina Esslinger is an avid learner and vigorously continues to enhance and hone her skills and techniques as an Industrial Design major at Rhode Island School of Design. The past 3 years majoring in industrial design at RISD have given her a profound admiration for furniture, and lighting design that she plans on pursuing in the future. Working with wood and metal, has also sparked an interest in the possibilities of experimental and renewable materials, and their applications in the field of design.

When asked why Lime was a right fit for her, Carolina stated, “I chose to work with Lime because of their wide variety of applied fields, such as graphic design, prototyping, 3D renderings, CAD, injection molding and product development. Lime Design also works with a variety of different prototyping processes of which I’m eager to learn how to use. They offer the potential to learn more about SLS, SLA and FDM, and prototyping processes.”

Do you have what it takes to be part of the Lime Design team? We currently have opportunities for Summer and Semester based internships and gladly welcome passionate interns interested in joining our product development team. Send an email to internship@limecreativedesign.com
